Presentation  :  Long and Winding Road to Elective Below Knee Amputation by the Osteomyoplatic Amputation Reconstruction aka Ertl Procedure  by  Glenn Muerer

Glenn is an R&D Engineer who’s enjoyed a mostly technical career in applied electromagnetics at the area’s two FFRDCs, MITLL and MITRE, with a little “time off for good behavior” at a LL startup. Following a lifelong accumulation of individually minor sports injuries, and the onset of what become a cascade failure of foot and ankle starting in 2009, he underwent a transtibial amputation in January 2017. He has achieved a remarkable recovery of function, has been pain-free since recovery and is active again. Glenn has contributed to MIT’s Media Lab Biomechatronics Group’s NIH myoneural interfaces study as a participant in our Non-AMI/TT control group.

This presentation will be part of our regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
